Butt Connecters are the worst thing to use. Solder and heat shrink..
stagger them connectors boy lol, looks twice as slick not havin a big ole hemorrhoid bulging out. some situations, perhaps as this one, dont allow you too because they only give you 3 inchs of wire out the connector, thats when you can get a pin popper n some ferrule pins and remove the wires n insert your own with no splices. multiple ways to skin a cat i suppose. i personally have never considered hard wiring something that isnt a local system, ie wires passing through a firewall or something to that effect
I bought a butt connector crimping tool at Harbor Freight that is awesome. It has separate slots for each different size of butt connector and is easy to use. It just about removes the chance of a bad crimp and saves a lot of time. On top of that, it wasn't very expensive!
Awsome tech tios there Pete, by the way Pete i got my first floor pan welded in the old valiant thanks to you and your video's.Decide to make my own as the cost here in Australia for front passenger side floor was $330 bucks so i brought my own beading machine and metal brake bender for $300, it was a no-brainer and job turned out great. Thanks again Pete for all your hard work and knowledge
Sincerely,
Mark
solder because over time the wires corrode. solder protects the wires
Taking extra time wiring in the electrical connector so the guy down the road won't have to break his ass if a the dash needs to be removed. Take it easy Pete
Thanks for another great video! I enjoy the "you CAN do it yourself" attitude. It has helped me to take on jobs that I initially thought I could never do.
Where you have Butt Connecters I would use solder and shrink tube.
Thanks. You made me smile.
This guy is a hack. He should have repined the harness and plug that sucka in. I also don't see any noalox being used in the throw away butt splices either. Warning stay away from this method, it will cause you problems.
