Before internal combustion engines became 'all-high-and-mighty' by positioning its' valve assembly 'Over-Head', with 6,000+ red-lines…there was not a need, not a necessity, for ze lubricant to be forced along by a pump.  Splash lubrication systems were quite adequate.

great video, appreciate the mention of checking tolerances to see if the pump should be replaced. Is there such a thing as a camera that can be snaked inside the oil plug hole to inspect the pump without taking off the timing cover on a 1zzfe Corolla engine (or is the mechanic trying to avoid taking off the engine cover with a fib)?

1 engine off, 2 read the oil level, 3 start engine, 4 read the oil level while engine running, if the level decreased more than half then its pumping, if oil level stays the same then oil is not pumping. you'll also hear a knocking sound if the oil stays at the same level.

I hate lights for alternator and oil pressure. I think all cars should come with real gauges. A light is fine to warn you and bring your attention to a potential problem after that though it would be nice to have gauges to look at.

For a non edited video, and him speaking slowly, and in terms the average Joe could understand, he did an exceptional job.  Idiots are everywhere.
