We've had 2 kias, both more than 10 year old… They've never had any kind of problem, don't know if they have different engines for US market. Ours are Crdi's a sorento and a cerato, more than 200.000 kms, nothing else but maintenance, have never seen any caught fire, don't see many cars with this problem at all really here in Europe to be honest.
Korean car = poor quality
I'd drive a Gremlin before I'd drive a Hyundai or KIA
Have a 2011 Kia Sorento with the 2.4L I4 & it’s been a solid vehicle without any problems. All Car Manufactures have had some defects & recalls over the years including Toyota (with the stuck gas Pedals) & Honda (with vehicle fires of their own). At least Kia & Hyundai are doing something about it & recalling the affected vehicles.
