I remember when I was in drivers ed, the teacher was a tool who often freaked out on students while they were driving. My buddy was doing his driving test, and I was in the backseat observing. At the start of the test he accidentally put the automatic transmission in 3rd gear instead of overdrive, and drove that way for awhile. Near the end of the test, the teacher instructed him to drive on the busiest road in our city, and that was when he realized the car was in 3rd gear. As expected, he started yelling at the kid about how he was wasting so much gas, and that he needed to shift to overdrive RIGHT NOW!
That car never shifted quite the same after my buddy accidentally threw it into park at 35 mph.

I have flooded my automatic transmission before on my Chevy S10 and that is why I now drive manual vehicles lol

I love my manual transmissions lot of people can't drive stick hahaha 😆 I know newer Automatic are faster but i would rather pay for new clutch then 8 or 10 speed transmission.

After watching this video and many others from Scotty I have come to the following conclusion that the best drivetrain manufacturers by region/country are:
    Japan: Shimano
    Europe: Campagnolo, Sachs
    USA: SRAM
    😂

But in truck industry is quite opposite, in Europe trucks and buses are more automatic then manual today and in North America they even produce today for trucks manual transmissions with non synchronize gearboxes, it is quite odd!

Not too long ago…okay maybe 50 years ago… if you didn't take your license road test on a standard transmission your license was restricted to automatic transmission only.

I was driving a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria and I was approaching a green light when it went to yellow and red. I was a good distance from the light so I could come to a nice controlled stop. However, the brake pedal sunk to the floor without any warning. I pressed the emergency brake, in which I found out later didn't work. Blared the horn with my left hand and placed the car into park from drive. I heard the tires skidding and the transmission go tick tick tick. The cross traffic had the green, but nobody moved. I slid under the light and placed it into a low gear so we could make it to a service station. If we would have wrecked, it would have been a T-bone and the transmission probably wouldn't work after an accident like that. Plus, my grandfather and or mother could have gotten injured from the accident. Transmission still worked so that worked out really well. My mother was freaking out and my grandfather was running a fever and I don't think he cared one way or the other, he wanted to get to the doctor.

All of this was under my learner's permit.

Curious, one thing I didn't hear was going from drive to reverse while still in motion.
