Super informative! I feel much more confident buying a used car knowing what to look for and hopefully the seller will recognize I’m not one to mess with!

All great tips but what I look for is good maintenance records. If an owner can show me that they followed the vehicle maintenance schedule then I know the car was well taken care of. I use a superb car maintenance and management software product http://www.lonewolf-software.com/automotivewolf.htm on my laptop that tracks the maintenance schedules on all 3 of my vehicles. It also creates a very detailed maintenance log that you can print out and show to any prospective buyers. I've sold several vehicles over the past 10 years very quickly this way.

I just sold an old daily beater, guy came at night, paid cash. Lucky for him I'm honest, and he scored a good reliable car.
