The first electric vehicle from British luxury-car maker Rolls-Royce has arrived in Australia. New orders face wait times of more than 18 months.

Rolls-Royce’s first electric vehicle named the ‘Spectre’ has landed on Australian soil – but Australian customers could wait more than a year for delivery.

Priced from $770,000 before on-road costs, the Spectre could surpass the $1 million mark once the customer’s selected options, and on-road costs – such as stamp duty and registration – are included.

Representatives for Rolls-Royce in Australia have previously told Drive there has been “significant” interest in the Spectre among local buyers.

Australia is reportedly among the top three markets for Rolls-Royce in the Asia-Pacific region, which also includes countries such as Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

The Spectre is powered by dual electric motors with 430kW and 900Nm, good for a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds, and a claimed driving range of 530km in European WLTP testing.

A spokesperson for the British luxury carmaker told Drive wait times for new Spectre “commissions” are currently in excess of 18 months.

Considered the ‘spiritual successor’ of the Phantom Coupé – and a replacement for the V12 Wraith coupe – the Spectre features the British car maker’s first fully-digital instrument cluster.

Rolls-Royce is due to go electric-only from the early 2030s.

The design process for the Spectre reportedly spanned more than 800 hours, and more than 2.5 million kilometres of testing was completed.

Rolls-Royce Spectre deliveries are due to begin imminently globally.
