I own a shop but once in a while customer ask me if I can go to their place. I don’t really like doing mobile mechanic because I don’t like being watched as I work. Since I specialize in hybrid cars the only mobile job I do is swapping the hybrid battery. Diagnostic type work like electrical I would never do mobile because customer do not realize that I get paid for knowledge. If they see me splice wires and charge them 150 bucks they will think it’s a rip off but wha they do not realize is not many mechanics are any good at electrical and most mechanic will tear down a dash just to find where an electrical fault is rather than referring to a diagram and simply fixing the problem easier. That’s why when someone ask me to go to his place to fix a 2018 Elantra with inoperative horn I said no bring it to the shop. He called a mobile mechanic. I hope he found one that is any good with electrical. I did mobile mechanic too before I open up my shop but on electrical and other diagnostic in nature type work I would have them bring or tow the car to my fiends shop. We would go 50/50 but it’s better than being low balled by customer who don’t understand the value of a mechanic with strong diagnostic skills

Couple jobs a day huh…. One broken bolt / nut or dropped faster somewhere will disrupt that possibility. It happens sometimes.

    * 200k a year would be like 10 hours a day every day. I do t have that kind of desire anyways so I would never make that much. That’s an estimated upper limit.
