It’s the beginning of the end for a week-long halt across 10 Toyota production lines, following last week’s explosion at a supplier’s factory.

Toyota plans to have all production lines at its Japanese factories operating by the end of the week, following a disruption from one of its suppliers last week.

According to news outlet Reuters, Toyota will gradually resume production from today, after last week’s explosion at the factory of a key suspension supplier, which injured two workers.

At the time, 10 production lines at six factories were halted, including those responsible for manufacturing the RAV4 and LandCruiser.

It’s not clear whether the week-long delay will add to long waiting times for Australian customers.

Work will resume from today (Tuesday 24 October 2023) with all factories expected to be operational by the morning of Thursday 26 October 2023.

One worker was hospitalised following the incident, though the cause of the explosion has yet to be determined.
