A styling update for the new Nissan X-Trail – which has been on sale in Australia for less than 12 months – is on the horizon in the US, but it may be years away from local showrooms.
The mid-life facelift for the latest 2025 Nissan X-Trail family SUV is around the corner in the US, after an image of the updated design surfaced online over the weekend – however it could be one or two years away from Australian showrooms.
A leaked image sent to US website Carscoops shows the updated X-Trail – sold in the US as the Rogue – gains a restyled front bumper with a wider grille, and a new design around the headlights (which are unchanged) and lower bumper.
In the US the current X-Trail/Rogue has been in showrooms since late 2020, but production of Australian and European models in Japan did not commence until late 2022.
If the same cadence is followed for the updated version, it may not be in local showrooms until the end of 2025 – by which time an all-new model in the US may be on the horizon.
Previous spy photos in the US show changes to the updated Rogue is also in line for changes to its rear bumper. The leaked image shows a new 19-inch alloy wheel design.
The updated Rogue is also set to adopt a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is already available on Japanese-built X-Trails – but is not offered on the US-built Rogue.
When the updated model comes to Australia, it is unclear if it would adopt 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine (150kW/305Nm) of US models, to replace the current 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine (135kW/245Nm) available locally.
The X-Trail e-Power hybrid available in Australia is not offered in the US.
More details are due closer to the unveiling of the updated 2024 Nissan Rogue, which is expected later this year or early next year.
