Interest in electric vehicles is at an all time high, with sales of new EVs up 55 percent in 2022 compared to the year prior. But there are still a lot of gas cars on the road today and there will be for a long time. EV conversions are becoming a bigger trend that could help. Both the shops and aftermarket community are growing substantially to meet the new demand. CNBC explores what it takes to convert a gas-powered car to an electric vehicle and whether it could go mainstream.

    Then one bearing breaks for the output shaft and bam $40k bill. Or worse battery failures and total car loss. Ill never go EV. Henry ford would turn in his grave. He is the man who started this all for americans. Its a shame to his memory honestly and kinda disrespectful to all he achieved for us and the platform he provided us with as the way foward…

    Just wait for germany to release its new synthetic fuel. Once that happens. I hope electric cars will slowly dissappear. They are extreamly dangerous. More than a combustion engine

    actually if the government subsidized kits to companies , more people would convert "some" vehicles to electric vehicles , but they won't because they want people to buy cars that they can't afford . you know bidenomics from the biden crime family. 10 percent for the big guy , joe biden !
