it seems that one thing in common with school shooters is that they tend to be male and quiet, shy, off beat, introverted, socially awkward loners.
I have not seen many commentaries from the view point of one of these so here it finally is, been wanting to do this for awhile but didn’t because I over thought it. this could have gone on longer, so much more I could add.
a lot said that these incidents are mental health related… indeed they are, but this personality is hard to engage in the normal sit down style intervention, I would guess that most of these kids would end therapy early as difficult to engage or drop out. I had more success with this style kid by validation techniques, that would get them to show me their world and then with their trust we could explore areas of their hangups and rigidity
I talk about myself who kind of came out of darkness and my twin brother that committed suicide we were both on the “it’s those quiet kids you have to watch out for” spectrum.
