I think they know exactly what the situation is lol. Hence why it was an instant nope.
Gm dash units are easily replaced, sold all over, even Napa has them.
I had 2006 gmc Yukon dash unit go out , all gauges didn't not work but odometer did .
Napa wrote the miles down send in my old unit and wad rebuilt in a week cost $299.
HA! I hated that idea of that stupid program from Progressive insurance. They should be named Oppressive in trying to not really be consumer friendly and force people into being spied on in order to get a fair rate.
Hey Scotty, I've got 2 Toyota Corolla's each with a "SCAN GAUGE" tool plugged into them, it's for helping you achieve better gas mileage, but also, gives you lots of other information, like Water Temp, oil pres/temp, RPM's, etc. etc. it also tells your gas mileage. You mean to tell me I shouldn't use these? I've put one on my wife's '06, and one for my '04 Toy Cor.
My insurance would go through the roof if I tried to use one of those gimmicky things anyway so I’ve got nothing to worry about!

If u can try to use your phone for the tool instead of the device u plug into your car its what I do and it works just the same as the snap shot tool, one insurance company that does it through your phone is called ROOT insurance they will use only your phone and it does the same exact thing just remember to bring ur phone when u drive.
Putting one of the insurance companies dongles into you diagnostic port is like allow a spy from the insurance company watching your every move.
EVERYONE commits small infractions of the law while driving a vehicle – now you have a spy from the insurance company onboard your vehicle transmitting these small infractions to the insurance company home office. NOT A GOOD IDEA.
