Turn on the underglow, hit the boost button and build your own 319-piece Gallo 24 Skyline – complete with a movie-star mini-figure

Relive the movie we all hate to love – and with too many gear changes – with the latest addition to the Lego Speed Champions catalogue, the silver R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R from the 2003 movie, 2Fast2Furious.

The set, which includes a Brian O’Connor figure (the character in the movie played by Paul Walker), models the silver and blue Skyline’s C-West body kit, HRE wheels, intercooler spray kit and enormous rear wing. There’s even a blue underglow to help blend into the Miami street-racing scene.

On the inside, it is correctly right-hand-drive and the passenger seat has been replaced by the Nitrous Oxide tanks.

We’ll call it now, the model is fun … but far from accurate. Which is a little ironic given the R34 Skyline’s naturally angular design.

The side profile is a little off (the turret looks too low) and the quad-lamp front end looks more like a third-gen Mustang than an R34, but we understand the limitations of Lego and like what they have tried to do.

As yet, there are no details on timing for Australia, but we assume set 76917 will arrive in the new year, priced similarly to existing Speed Champion models which cost about $30.

The Nissan Skyline is the second Speed Champions set to be licenced from the Fast and Furious franchise, joining set 76912, Domenic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger.
