HEY, my 05 Ranger does NOT have any broken parts, whatsoever, ever hear the saying, "They don't build 'em like they used to?
Inductive tract maglev trains are doable, can compete with deisel electrics, BUT, why reinvent the wheel, rip up the old tech and put in the new tech when it costs the exact same amount to do it. The track consists of a long row of permanent magnets of changing polarity, so that as the vehicle passes over it, they magnets induce a current in a large coil on the bottom of the vehicle and produce a magnetic field of opposite polarity to the track.
It would be great giving the wear and tear on pavement, but the cost involved in maintaining the power supply and all the upkeep would negate any benefit astronomically. Now, years and years from now, probably a great thing given you could just run it after clearing the path. It would be similar to the power structure we ran when electricity became a thing, but we are far far off from having the infrastructure to sustain it for anyone. When cars became a thing they operated on original trails horses used.
I kind of laughed most of these people that come up with these ideas on paper are great the prototypes work well however the cost of changing the infrastructure to that nobody seems to want to deal with that.
