The 80 series was the last truly rugged and immensely off-road capable Land Cruiser to ever roll out of Toyota, wasn’t it? Well, no it wasn’t. The 105 series Land Cruiser was. Actually, that’s wrong, too. Toyota still makes a solid axle Land Cruiser with a big diesel V-8. It is the 70 Series line-up, and the western world doesn’t get it because frankly, we are softies that do not need such a rugged vehicle. Imagine how famous those would have been if they were currently available in the U.S.A. With the industry of off-roading and overlanding at an all-time high, these two models would be huge hits. Wouldn’t they?
