America has given birth to many carmakers that did perform outstandingly from their inception but could not survive in the long run. One of them is the Stutz Motor Company, which has its name etched in automotive history as one of the first manufacturers of sports cars – I’m talking about a car named Bearcat. After a hiatus of more than 30 years, the company was revived by a wealthy banker named James O’Donnell, who joined forces with an ex-Chrysler designer and developed the third-gen Blackhawk in 1971. The car was known for its ultra-luxurious interior and a pretty powerful engine. Not to forget its supreme price tag, the Blackhawk was a famous land yacht for celebrities including Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Al Pacino, Elton John, and Elvis Presley. Among them, the King of Rock and Roll was a hardcore fan of the car, and one of his Blackhawks will soon be on sale at Mecum Auctions.
