The Impreza-based XV is just weeks away from its debut, with rumours of a new turbocharged engine on the way.
0The world has been given a sneak peek at the 2023 Subaru XV, ahead of its Japanese unveiling later this month.
Subaru posted a teaser video and images of the new-generation XV, which is expected to follow the model’s previous formula – offering buyers a jacked-up, soft-road hatchback based on the Impreza.
As reported in December 2021, rumours suggest the new XV will be powered by a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine – offering greater torque and improved fuel economy over the outgoing 2.0-litre non-turbo engine.
Spy photos at the time showed the XV was in line to receive an 11.6-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen – seen on the Impreza-based WRX – which incorporates Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite navigation, as well as providing access to the car’s climate control.
The new model will also receive Subaru’s latest EyeSight Driver Assist system, with driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, and radar cruise control expected.
Whispers out of Japan also suggest ‘Level 3’ semi-autonomous driving technology could appear for the first time on the vehicle.
These digital renderings created by artist Theottle provide an early look at what the 2023 Subaru XV is expected to look like, based on camouflaged prototypes.
According to Japanese publication Best Car, the Corolla-fighting Impreza sedan and hatch are also scheduled to make their debut this November – two months after the high-riding XV is revealed.
The 2023 Subaru XV will be unveiled on 15 September 2022, with further details on pricing and availability to be announced closer to its local launch.
