Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 30 examples of its 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQS53 electric car, citing a fault with the car’s front tow point connection.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The connection depth of the front towing point may not meet manufacturing specifications. As a result, the front tow point connection could detach from the vehicle during frontal towing.
“If the front tow point detaches from the vehicle during use, it will increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and other road users.”
According to industry sales data, Mercedes-Benz has reported 30 EQS53s as being delivered so far this year.

Mercedes-Benz Australia advises owners of the affected vehicles to contact their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible free of charge.
