Audi fans have been graced with some seriously amazing cars over the past 40 years. From the birth of the Quattro for rally racing through the R8 supercar which created a series of Lamborghinis as a result, to the always impressive S6 and RS6 Avant which at one point even had a V-10 engine. With the svelte and luxurious A8, Audi catered directly to the luxury flagship market, taking on the BMW 7 Series and the venerable Mercedes-Benz S Class. However, where Audi fell short in this market was a serious performance model.
