The ninth generation Nissan Skyline, the R33, was introduced in August 1995. The model followed the widely celebrated R32 and played a big part in the model’s eventual long-term success. In all honesty, it was the moment’s popular culture that helped the car’s sales by a lot. Gran Turismo – and other video games – made the R32 Skyline very popular, even on markets where it wasn’t even sold, like America. So, following the footsteps of the R32 – aka “Godzilla, the monster from Japan,” the R33 enjoyed huge success and ended up playing a role in the first Fast & Furious film (Leons car).
