Very thoughtful video. I was put off trying to join a regional DGR event by similar emails, which was a shame, as I was ready to donate real money. The organisers do not seem to understand that it’s the community of riders that, in the long run, is the important thing to get right. Money will follow.
I always look forward to your videos, Dick. Keep them coming please.
I suggest the "Tally Ho" at the end of their email pretty much sums it up. And I'm ex RAF! I guess it's what I expected. Having read Motolegends latest alienating diatribe regarding one piece leathers I can't say I'm shocked by their attitude towards 'sports' bikes.
Never stop telling it as it is DW. You're a breath of fresh air in an increasingly bullshit ridden world.
See what I did there?;))
DW, May I suggest you do a review of online biker related sites? I'm happy to recommend Vintagent.com and would welcome your impressions. Some of their articles are really excellent and inspiring, and all are very well written.
Hi Dick, I did the DGR ride in Hull. About 120 were involved, mostly old stuff but not entirely. Weather was perfect. The event organisers were excellent and were obviously flexible on the style of bike allowed ( I was on a modern F6C). I was nearly put off myself from going because of the very ( don't like the word elitist but I'll use it) elitist promotional stuff. Glad i went. Put my best suit and tie on. Had a great day. Public and people in Hull were superb, very friendly and there was agreat atmosphere. Will go again for sure, maybe on a 500 Classic though !
I would probably never do another DGR again for similar issues. Pity such a great idea and charity! Keep up the great vids mate!
Sadly kinda sums up London these days 🙁
Valid points.
I love how at 4:07 you speak of "odd jerk revving their engines" and then you proceed to pump that little horn incessantly :).
A good cause but ride outs with 100s of bikes are a bore I would rather just give to the charity and avoid all the rules and regulations.
So glad you tell it like it is, you usually don't here the negs surrounding events like these. I don't know if things have improved any but there's food for thought here. Great job
