An Early Look at the Lamborghini Urus Hybrid PHEV

First of all, how do we know this is no ordinary Urus Evo? Well, if you look closer you will be able to sport the charger port in the left rear fender, and the yellow high-voltage stickers showing the hybrid indication on the front window. But what does this mean for performance?

Rumors suggest the hybrid Urus will feature the same powertrain as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. However, at this point, it is not clear if the Italian SUV will be equal to the Porsche or if it will deliver slightly more power. There are different rumors regarding the power too. Some voices suggest that the plug-in hybrid Urus could deliver as much as 820 horsepower, but, if that will really be the case, we expect to see two different versions of the SUV. The current Urus delivers 641 horsepower, so an 820-horsepower hybrid version would put a huge gap in between the two models. With that in mind, it would make sense for Lamborghini to offer two different powertrain levels for the hybrid Urus: an entry level version that will pair a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 with an electric motor for a total of 675-720 horsepower and a top version that will deliver 820 horsepower. Only time will tell if this will actually happen, though

Design and Availability

When it comes to its design, we can’t spot any major updates on the hybrid version of the Urus. Just like in the EVO version there will be revised air intakes that will skip the Y-shaped, horizontal elements, an updated hood, and a redesigned rear bumper. A few small changes will also be offered inside too.

As for when the plug-in hybrid version of the Urus will be revealed, it won’t be anytime immediately soon. This year Lamborghini will unveil the facelifted Urus and a more powerful “Performante” version, so the plug-in version will arrive sometime in 2023 at the earliest.
