The updated Hyundai Palisade is due in August with a new look, more tech, and upgraded safety with a five-star ANCAP rating in its sights – but prices are likely to rise.
- 2023 Hyundai Palisade pricing and specifications
- Facelifted front end with Tucson-inspired look
- Upgraded tech and safety, including digital dash and centre airbag
- Petrol and diesel power, in two model grades
- Prices yet to be confirmed
The facelifted 2023 Hyundai Palisade large family SUV will offer more technology, improved safety and a new look – plus a likely price rise to match – when it arrives in Australian showrooms in August 2022.
Revealed in April, the updated Palisade is due in August with more technology (including a fully-digital instrument cluster for the first time), revised styling and, crucially, new safety features which should help to counter the big Hyundai’s recently-awarded four-star ANCAP safety rating.
Two model grades will be available – Elite and Highlander, with the unnamed base model launched nine months ago already killed off – with a choice of petrol V6 front-wheel drive or turbo-diesel four-cylinder all-wheel drive power.
Pricing is yet to be confirmed, however with the additional features on offer, expect prices to rise over the $62,200 plus on-road costs of the current Palisade Elite petrol, which peaks at $75,700 plus on-road costs for the flagship Highlander diesel.
A pre-facelift Palisade can currently be had for as little as $55,700 plus on-road costs, however this entry-level variant will be dropped from the 2023 range.
External changes to the Palisade include a new front end with restyled lighting units – and a unique grille for each variant – plus new 20-inch wheel designs, and revised tail-lights.
Inside, Australian buyers are now allowed access to the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster restricted to overseas markets since 2019 – now placed alongside a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, replacing the 10.25-inch display previously standard on the Elite and Highlander.
Between the front seats is now a centre airbag, which prevents front passengers from colliding in a side-impact collision – along with intersection support for the autonomous emergency braking system, multi-collision braking, and traffic sign recognition.
The lack of these items on the pre-facelift Palisade was flagged by independent safety body ANCAP last week, when the model was hit with a four-star safety rating – the only current ANCAP-rated vehicle in the non-luxury large SUV segment without five stars.
However, ANCAP has indicated plans for the “safety-related changes introduced to the updated [Palisade] model [to] be assessed” – though timing for this is yet to be confirmed.
Australia will also miss out on the second-row side airbags (for rear passengers’ bodies) available in the US, which would take the total airbag count to nine, rather than the confirmed seven. Head-protecting ‘curtain’ airbags remain for all three rows, unlike some large SUV rivals.

Powering the Palisade is a carry-over choice of 217kW/355Nm 3.8-litre non-turbo petrol V6 with front-wheel drive, or a 147kW/440Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engines with all-wheel drive. Both use eight-speed automatic transmissions.
The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is due in Australian showrooms in August 2022. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
