I like the idea but its definitely going to be controversial since the oil guy isnt usually all that good and some dealerships are pretty bad about making problems worse or not doing the job right of they do it at all.

Its also hard to argue the time is an issue. I change my own oil and buzz my balding head for the same reason…..im done before i could even get to the place that does it.

Another well known problem is a lot of places don't even change your oil filter..
They just wipe it off to give it the appearance of being new, then charge you for for an oil filter.

My experience is they over tighten and spill oil on the headers. So no thanks. I got this

I saw a Toyota yaris leaving the dealership smoking like a train because they overfilled it. Sometimes youre better off finding a trusted professional than the dealership.

Dealer ships easily charge $20-30 more for an oil change than if you were to do it yourself. Just take the used oil with you when you're going to get groceries and stop at the auto store.

Honestly we are not professionals. We always get thrown to the wolves and hope to god we don’t fuck up. πŸ˜‚

Extract the oil. Don't drain. Unless it's like maybe the 1st oil change and you are checking for metal on the drain plug.
