The earth naturally makes oil, coal and tar. Humans just refine it and use it. Whether we, as humans, decide to use these by products that the good earth makes, they will always be present. Just as these products were already here before the industrial revolution, they will still be present after we're all dead and gone.
One can't really blame China for being a business powerhouse, that would fall on our greedy Congressional members, politicians and businesses that only care about money and getting their share on the deal. They only look at how much they can pocket right now verses 20-40 years down the road if it will hurt us as a nation versus job security or even national security. Our entire governments, federal, state and local entities need to be gutted, halved or more, then revoted in. There's too much corruption at all levels and we're taxed way beyond what we should be.
As far as setting the goals in setting these electric cars to 2030, I don't see where it's doable. They still have their problems and it costs a lot of money to fix or repair them. The thing is, is that for us to become self independent again, we'd still need to rely on China and others for a long time to even think of becoming self sustaining again. And as long as we have these career politicians making backroom deals, instead of what's right for the people and country, sustainability or even national security is still way off in the distance.
China is buying into everything. They need to buzz off and quit ruining everything they touch.
Scotty, I think your idea of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell car is a more feasible solution for the interim. 🤔
