What we love
  • Looks great, lots of room

What we don’t
  • No power seats, radio controls a bit fiddly

I bought the MG HS because I liked the look of the car compared to other SUVs.

What I like is that the exterior has a nice line to it – front and back both look good. I like the heritage of the MG brand. I love the colour of the car – I haven’t seen a blue quite like it before.

I thought, ‘it’s a nice-looking SUV – I’m going to get it’.

One downside is that I miss my power seats. On the Jeep (Renegade), if your seat is too far forward, you can electronically move forward. It’s a bit superficial and there are a lot of manual functions making it less effortless.

While I enjoy driving it, I will say that it can feel a bit underpowered. If I go up a steep hill, I need to put it into sports mode, which I wouldn’t expect. It’s a smooth drive. The transmission works well – it switches gears well.

I know it’s only new, but it has never broken down!

It has a nice wide boot when I need to move furniture. I’m surprised how wide it is – much better than I thought it would be, as I had a Tarago before for that.

To make the car better, I would like to see a few minor improvements in the electronic features. For example, if I turn on the radio on the centre console, I need to turn it off from the steering wheel – a bit of a logistical mess-up.

My HS has been great so far, and my daughter was driving the MG 3 for a few weeks and liked it so much she bought it.
