90% of lithium comes from china …one more thing to dangle over our head
If you’re going to buy an EV don’t buy it because its “better” for the environment. Buy it because of the instant torque and acceleration and technology.
EV and other Electronics should run on a safe Cold Fission/Fusion device no bigger than a shoebox. And, it should be given to Humanity for free, except for the cost of the device itself which can be made inexpensively. —mww
This push for EV's is driven by madness! I am surprised more of the tree huggers haven't been jumping up and down in protest. But not to worry. Lord Elon of the future Mars colony will be sending back to earth a new, as yet undiscovered, element to power our world. Just one handful of the new element will power NY state for an entire year. One wheelbarrow full the entire Lower 48. Even Scotty will have to say something nice about Electric Jesus then!
And if they think they'll stop burning fossil fuels to produce electricity that supply EV and battery factories in the future, what the hell will supply the electricity? Windmills? Solar farms? You'd have to cover half the country with those things to keep up with the demand. That would mean more mining would have to be done. And how would that demand be kept up with? The earth would look like a wiffle ball by the time we got everything battery powered.
Electric car batteries are designed to lock you out of the bottom ten percent of capacity and the very top of the capacity that’s why they last longer than phone batteries. That’s why the hoverboards that kids used to ride had so many issues with batteries. kids would ride them until the battery completely drained. Lithium batteries will not accept charging if discharged to a certain value. That’s why people were complaining about the hoverboard batteries. People let their phone batteries die before charging and leave them charging all night which breaks down the chemicals in the battery pack. That’s why they only accept approximately 500 charge cycles. Which works out to approximately 2 years. Which by the way is the terms on your phone contract. Ask me how I know? I replace lithium batteries all day every day.
No it is not worth it is already bad enough we have a chip shortage They need to quit worrying about electric cars and finish making the gas and diesel before working on something like that
Thank you Scotty, for showing that EVs aren't the way to go.
Absolutely not worth it. Hydrogen fuel cells and natural gas like propane would make for better way to stop pollution. These electric vehicles need to make their own electricity. These electric vehicles pollute more.
