The new MDX Type S is the third Type S model to debut this year, next to the TLX Type S and the NSX Type S. It will arrive at dealerships nationwide next week and will be offered either in “base” version, priced at $66,700, or equipped with the Advance Package, with prices going up to $72,050.
However, even in base form the MDX Type S is way more expensive than its competition. For example, the BMW X3 M40i is priced at $57,800 and the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 at $59,900.
It also worth mentioning that both the X3 and the GLC are more powerful than the MDX Type S. The Acura SUV is powered by a 3.0-liter Turbo V-6 engine that delivers a total of 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, while the X3 features an 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline-six
with 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet. The AMG SUV is also more powerful and features a 3.0-liter V-6 biturbo engine with 385 horsepower and 384 pound-feet.
The 2022 MDX Type S is also almost $20k more expensive than a base MDX which is priced from $47,200. The Type S however is only $6k more than the MDX equipped with the Advance Package which is priced at $60,950.
