My middle of the range XV is the second Subaru XV I own. I also have a 2014 XV. For a couple with grown up kids, the XV hits the size sweet spot. We can take enough camping gear for a week away plus a kayak on the roof racks and two push bikes on the back. The 2020 XV is a substantial evolution and improvement over our 2014 model, which I thought was a great car. The 2020 fuel consumption is considerably less than the 2014 model at 6.6 litres per 100 kilometres versus 8.8L/100km for the 2014 model. Both cars are used mostly around town.
