The fault could cause stopping ability to become compromised, according to the manufacturer.
Volkswagen Australia has recalled 95 examples of its 2021 Volkswagen Passat, citing a potential fault with the braking system.
The affected vehicles were sold in 2021 (and stamped Model Year 2021).
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The threaded nut connecting the brake servo and brake pedal may not meet manufacturing specifications.
“Should the threaded nut become loose the brake pedal will no longer function leading to a reduction in braking performance and handling of the vehicle.
“A loss of braking performance will increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
