When Caterham launched the Seven 160 back in 2013 everyone was impressed by its weight: 490 kilos (or about 1,080 pounds). Even if it only delivered 80 horsepower, its power-to-weight ratio was set at 163 bhp per ton. When you think that back in 2013 cars like Hennessey Venom GT had a power-to-weight ratio of about 1230 bhp-per-tone, the 160 may not look that impressive. But, for a tiny car, it was more than enough.
Now Caterham came with an even lighter successor for the 160. The new Seven 170 weighs only 440 kilos (970 pounds) and has a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 170 bhp-per-ton!
