Australians are already ordering the 2022 Nissan Z

Despite being well over 12 months away and with crucial pricing and specification yet to be revealed, Nissan dealers across Australia have still been taking deposits for its upcoming 2022 Nissan Z sports car.

Drive has spoken to four independent Nissan franchises, who all claimed to have taken refundable $1000 deposits from customers to secure a “forward order” for a future Nissan Z car. One metro Sydney dealer said it had taken “well into the double digits” in terms of deposits.

While a forward order flags interest for allocating a particular vehicle to a dealership, the contract states that it may be subject to change.

The Nissan 400Z is powered by a new 298kW/475Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, and is offered globally with a manual transmission. Murmurs from the industry suggest the retail price for a top-spec version in America will be $US45,000, though these are yet to be confirmed.

Drive expects entry-level Nissan Z pricing to start well beneath the $AU87,003 Toyota GR Supra, given the price premium an automatic transmission usually wears, and the positioning of the outgoing AU$50,490 370Z.
