Porsche’s electric sedan adopts new tech, updated colours, and longer real-world driving range.
The Porsche Taycan has been updated for Model Year 2022, with new technology, a longer real-world driving range, and more optional extras.
Remote Park Assist functionality – which allows the high-performance electric sedan to park itself without its owner behind the wheel – is now available across the range, and can be accessed via the Porsche phone app.
The car’s infotainment system – running the brand’s Porsche Communication Management software – has also been updated, allowing faster processing and better functionality. Android Auto phone pairing is compatible for the first time, and joins the existing Apple CarPlay system.
According to Porsche, thermal efficiency has been improved and, when driving in Normal and Range modes, the Taycan’s front motor now automatically disengages to save power – while there will be no changes to the official spec sheet, the brand claims these updates will noticeably increase real-world driving range.
Meanwhile, the existing range of 17 external colours is joined by 65 new ‘Paint to Sample’ hues, for a total 82 colour choices – including the ‘Rubystar’ pink shown above, first offered with Porsche’s 911, 928 and 968 sports cars in the early 1990s.
The 2022 Porsche Taycan will go into production in September 2021, with the first local deliveries promised by the end of this year. The model is currently priced from $156,300 before on-road costs for the entry-level rear-wheel-drive variant.
