The last Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo highway patrol car in Australia has sold for more than three times the long term average price for ex-police cars.
Online bidding for the car opened at $36,250 last Friday and climbed to $45,750 before midnight, crept up to $46,250 by Sunday evening, and plateaued to $46,500 on Monday and $46,750 by mid afternoon Tuesday.
Most recently, ex-police Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo sedans have gone under the hammer at Pickles auctions for between $32,000 and $37,000, while ex-police Holden Commodore SS models have recently sold for in excess of $40,000, even though many are in poor condition and have travelled huge kilometres.
