A historic and religious site in the Ukraine has been vandalised by drift cars.
The Ukrainian arm of energy drink brand Red Bull has reportedly damaged a UNESCO world heritage site.
According to Kyiv (Kiev) based news outlet bykcu.com, the event occurred outside the Saint Sophia Cathedral and involved two Red Bull-sponsored race cars drifting around a public monument.
Due to being a guerilla act, no safety precautions or barriers were placed around public walkways which were in use at the time.
The stunt occurred despite Kyiv deputy mayor Kostyantyn Usov posting to Facebook that Red Bull “received a refusal from the city to agree to the event at this location”.
Usov also mentioned that “2,000 square meters of paving with Kyiv yellow bricks have been damaged on the Sofiiska Square.”
According to screenshots from Red Bull Ukraine’s offical Instagram account, it appears that the stunt was a commercial film shoot that involved Ukrainian rap artist Alyona Alyona.
It’s reported that the Red Bull production crew were later seen in the square trying to remove drift marks, with company representatives claiming the marred road “will be better than it was”.
