Offered for sale on ClassicCars.com in an advertisement by a private owner in Crystal Lake, Illinois, is the Pick of the Day, a 1966 Ford Mustang coupe that reportedly spent most of its life in southern Indiana and has been preserved, but with some nice upgrades.
The car is presented in Sauterne Gold with a black vinyl roof and matching interior, and with a 289cid V8 engine. But the owner notes the engine has been upgraded with a Holley Street Avenger Model 2300 carburetor, Pertronix coil and ignition system, as well as with new wiring and Champion spark plugs.
Also updated are the radiator, battery, air filter, fuel filter, muffler and wheel seals. The car rides on new Monroe shocks, and the automatic transmission has a new oil pan.
“The body panels are solid metal, and the previous repaint is beautiful,” the seller reports. “Only one small body trunk panel wrinkle by the left rear light, it didn’t bother me enough to repair.”
The seller reports replacing “the 3 floor pans, with proper welding, then cover with Dynamat Extreme sound mat.”
Also new are interior parts such as Bluetooth “retro” radio, new glove box, carpet and floor mats.
“The Pony seats are new from the previous owner and are in perfect condition.”
The seller notes replacement of “the air box and air hoses so the air is directed properly for the dash and floor. Original air conditioning refurbishment includes cleaning repaint, new chrome plated baffles & new condenser hoses.”
The air conditioner is not running, “probably needs a condenser refresh or replacement.”
“This car is near perfect for a new owner to drive and enjoy or take it to the next level as desired,” the seller adds. “This is a rare color combination that screams the ’60s. Thumbs up everywhere we go.”
