The Arese RH95 Is a Ferrari But Way Cooler

Touring Superleggera teased a new model in the first part of 2021, but we had no idea it was going to be something so special. It follows models like the 2013 Disco Volante, 2015 Berlinetta Lusso, the 2020 Sciadipersia Cabriolet, and – more recently – the 2021 Aero 3. This model’s sole purpose is to celebrate the company’s 95th anniversary and, as you can see from the images, the engineers over at Touring Superleggera went all out.

The Most interesting thing about the RH95 is, arguably, the scissor doors

These aren’t just Ferrari 488 doors with scissor hinges, though

The limited-run Arese RH95 is part of the company’s AERO model range and it appears to us as if it’s based on the Ferrari 488 Pista. That’s where the similarities, at least appearance-wise, actually stop because every part of the body has been completely redone. The most notable thing is, arguably, the new doors, which aren’t just scissor-hinged, but also wrap around on top to create part of the roof when shit. Outside of the downright coolness of the design, this is actually something that makes ingress and egress much easier. On that note, the company also claims the interior is comfortable enough for everyday use, so it has that going for it too.

In building the body, Touring Superleggera went all out with carbon fiber. The entire body, as a matter of fact is made of carbon fiber to keep weight low and performance high. An odd detail here is that the company produced the body parts with vacuum infusion at 120-degrees Celsius which accounts for “the best weight-stiffness ratio.” General Manager of Touring Superleggera, Salvatore Stranci, said:

“This Arese RH95 is another milestone in the history of Touring, 95 years after its foundation once again we demonstrate our ability to innovate, a practice renewed through the adoption of cutting-edge materials and construction techniques that are unusual for us.”

And, Touring Superleggera didn’t just stop at reconstructing the interior and exterior, either. Its 4.2-liter V-8 delivers a cool 720 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque – a mild improvement over the 3.9-liter V-8 that delivers 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque in the Ferrari 488 Pista.

The company hasn’t said for sure, but we’re assuming that it’s the very same engine, but bored out to increase displacement. Without an official weight rating, or performance specifics from the company, we can only speculate about straight-line performance and top speed. If this car is really lighter than the 488 Pista thanks to the new body, the extra 10 ponies should be more than enough to make it faster to 60 mph than the Pista at 2.85 seconds. Alternatively, I wouldn’t expect top speed to sit above 211 mph, but the company has said that the car has been reengineered to handle the new body loadings and specifics.
