Welcome to The Jonny Smith Late Brake Show episode of Top Gear’s Chris Harris life of cars part 1. Top Gear is the most famous car show, and Chris Harris is the small chap with no shortage of driving talent, who brings the wheelman element to the TV trio.

In something of a Late Brake Show exclusive Jonny takes his awful brown easy chairs down to Bristol to chat about Chris’ life in and around cars, from work experience at Autocar, to the heady Top Gear madness of today. In this two-part Idol Chat, Harris, typically very guarded about his personal cars and private life, shows Jonny some of his charismatic automotive possessions and opens up about what his career journey has been like; What it’s like to drift fast cars, throw eggs at Matt LeBlanc in a 2CV, break into YouTube world, crash a bit, race a bit, receive random phone calls from Chris Evans, get trolled and let a puppy eat his Porsche 911 GT3.

Remember to watch part 2 coming out later today.

Thank you for watching The Late Brake Show. .

    2 great enthusiasts!
I liked Jonny in 5th Gear as he's not one of those more power sports car fans
And Chris is a genuine enthusiast! Hammond Clarkson and may might have bent those retro Dads cars for ratings.
But he's on the money when he says cars have meaning!

Has anyone done a segment on viewers car histories and why they made particular choices when picking a car?

It's a shame Chris recieved abuse. I'm not sure why he did? He's carried Top gear the entire time he's been there and he's also the only one with any entertaining value despite the fact he's not comfortable or confident with that side of things. Thanks for this entertaining video.

No Chris Harris you were not the first one to buy a fancy car to make some noise

i followed chris harris on youtube way before he did top gear and thought he knows how to drive and knows his stuff. i followed him to top gear yeah its not the other 3 but anyone with a once of sense knows that and knows to give it a chance for them to make it their own show. think chris harris is very good at what he does and the new top gear now is incredibly funny. its certainly hit its stride i think now and will always continue to watch and follow. keep up the good work not everyone hates him for something that was never his fault when they do not even know him as a person

More intelligent in real life than his adolescent behavior on TG would suggest. Does this also mean that the buck toothed one and granny's favourite co hosts are not plonkers either? Mmm suspect not.

If Clarkson and May where generation X it would be these two dudes- 😎

I was a fan of Chris Harris, watched everything he ever put out, criticised him very politely after he destroyed that 106 Rallye and he was incredibly rude to me. Showed a completely different side to his character that was deeply unlikeable.

Great interview..I like his style, he lets Chris talk. Great work on everything Chris! I've always been a Chris Harris fan, you are the real deal, love your work. You've saved Top Gear, it's just as good now as it has always been. Where can I get a BMW M2 Chris Harris Edition? 🙂

Two of the best, with great conversation.

I’ve been following Chris for years and always thought that he would be great on mainstream TV so I was pleased to hear he was on TG.

Given his talent and experience, I found it heartbreaking to hear about the abuse he received. Genuinely shocked and saddened.

Of course no one should have abuse thrown at them like that but he was, and is, the main reason why so many watch Top Gear and his knowledge, skill, experience and talent is clear to see.

Jonny – yet another brilliant episode. They have always been good but the latest ones have been some of the most interesting shows I’ve watched on any screen. Thank you.

Chris – should you ever read this, thank you so much for continuing to do what you are so good at. You are one of the best in the industry and long may it continue.
