I feel like I've stated my minimalist journey for a similar reason. I myself have suffered from anxiety and depression my whole life. It wasn't till I was an adult and heading into a really bad place that I took the steps to get the help I need. One of things that was discussed a lot in my therapy group( I did group and individual therapy for a while) was how much our environment can effect our over all mood. I recognized that cleaning up my space always made me feel more confident and relaxed with myself. Sense I started decluttering my life I've become aware that I feel more motivated to take the steps towards my dreams and goals. Its almost like smiplifing my living space makes the world seem less intimidating. I still have a long way to go on living more with less(I still shop more then I really should), but minimalism has truely help me find a life I feel is wort living.

Living with less and being more intentional has definitely helped me with anxiety (and depression) too. I used to pacify myself with buying stuff and didn't let anything go, so starting the minimalism journey has been so freeing and empowering. I've still kept loads of sentimental items that I know I will be ready to let go eventually, just not yet – but the majority I've photographed and let go and the space and lightness it's given me has been awesome. Thank you for sharing your videos 😊

I think it's amazing what a positive effect minimalism can have on anxiety. I suffered from severe anxiety (not leaving the house kind of thing) and things around me would stress me out so much. I couldn't think or function if things were a mess and I was often too tired to clean it up. Now I just got rid of everything that was "limiting" me and I feel so much more free. I'm happy to see minimalism helps others as well!

Great video! Since starting the Konmari method, I, too, have noticed that my anxiety and depression symptoms have lessened dramatically. The changes I've made in my surroundings has even made it easier to focus (and I have mild ADD). I'm excited to see where this continued journey takes me, and I applaud your progress on your minimalism journey! You can do it!

omg awh! virtual hug!! haha thanks for sharing ♡ never would have guessed you dealt with this as well! Since moving in with my boyfriend & minimizing our house, wow talk about all over game changer !! the energy has changed in an amazing way, being able to know what you have & what you need.. it's helped me in my mental/physical/spiritual spaces so incredibly much! even when I did my room at my dad's, same thing. we live in a very consumer world..we take + take & we don't realize what we are giving or getting by taking in all this "noise" until you minimize it & tune it out! happy for you & fellow minimalist, only can wish the magic rubs off on more + more ppl! ♡

I'm always so impressed when people are able to articulate things about therapy and anxiety well. Not only do I not really talk about it, I avoid discussing it much because I find it so hard to sue the correct wording. Thank you for not only doing it, but doing it well.

Minimalism allows me a sense on control over my life that I was always trying to have and could never seem to. It is easier to be clean and organised, and at the end of the day things may get hectic but minimalism has given me the breathing room required in my physical space to be better equipped to handle anxieties as they arise. Compared to even just a year ago, my anxiety is better. I still have it and it does at times get quite bad, but now it is easier to climb out of the rabbit hole.

I definitely feel much calmer in my head when I've done a deep clean or declutter of my personal space 🙂 thank you for your videos, they've motivated me to do another sweep of my possessions and really ask myself who I'm keeping hold of each item/memory for!
