The Pick of the Day is a 1996 Volkswagen Cabrio, VW’s compact and affordable convertible that replaced the beloved Beetle convertible when it hit the U.S. market in 1980.

Building off the first-generation Golf’s popular features, the Cabrios were given a five-layer roof that folded down and a permanent roll bar attached to the B-pillar, giving the car its picnic-basket look.
Volkswagen released the second and final generation Cabrio in 1995 with such modern upgrades as an optional power roof and rear glass window.
