Today’s AutoHunter Spotlight is on an AACA national first-place award-winning 1961 Chevrolet Impala convertible powered by a 348cid V8 paired with a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission.
The Impala was found in long-term storage in 2007 and underwent a 5-year restoration to show-level standards. It went on to win AACA First Junior and Senior Awards and the Best Engine Compartment Award at Eckler’s Classic Chevy International in 2014, in which the car scored 994 of 1,000 points.

During the restoration, the body was disassembled, sandblasted and repainted in Roman red and white paint. It’s equipped with a new power-operated white retractable convertible top, the signature tapered-V rear design, round taillights and Impala emblems in the factory locations.
The matching red and white interior features reupholstered vinyl bench seats, matching door panels, and a “Straight-Line Tuning” push-button radio.
Under the hood in the fully detailed engine bay is the correctly date-coded engine rebuilt and equipped with a Tri-Power carburetor setup.
The odometer shows 87,000 miles, although true mileage is unknown.
This award-winning 1961 Chevy Impala’s auction ends April 13 at 11:30 a.m. PDT.
