After what Alpina calls the success of its B7 sedan and XB7 SUV, the performance company says it will expand its lineup in the American automotive marketplace this spring with the 2022 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe.

For $139,900 buyers get a bi-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine rated at 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque in a car that will accelerate to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, knock off the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds and top out at 201 mph, according to the Buchloe, Germany, tuning specialist.

The boost in power compared with the BMW M850i xDrive version of the coupe comes partially from larger front air ducting and Alpina intercoolers that provide 50 percent more cooling surface for the turbochargers, Alpina said.

A specially designed sport exhaust system allows easier exhaling by the engine while providing “both visual and auditory delight” in a car that Alpina promises will delivery both luxury and a dynamic driving experience.

The B8 also gets an Alpina Switch-Tronic 8-speed automatic transmission by ZF and Alpina sport suspension system with Eibach springs, Pirelli tires and Brembo brakes. The cars also feature an Integral Active Steering system from ZF that allows the 21-inch rear wheels to pivot up to 2.3 degrees left or right for enhanced vehicle dynamics.

The B8 is available in various BMW colors as well as exclusive Alpina Blue Metallic and Green Metallic shades.
