Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department held a press conference today to talk about an in-custody death on September 5.

The incident began shortly before 6 a.m. near Bonanza Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Asst. Sheriff Charles Hank said that patrol officers from the Bolden Area Command came across a man who was riding a bicycle without a safety light.

When they attempted to stop him, he took off. The patrol officers began chasing him. Initially the man, who has been identified as Byron Lee Williams, was still on his bike but then he began trying to escape on foot.

The officers were eventually able to catch up with him and told the man to get on the ground. While being cuffed, Williams told the officers he couldn’t breathe. The officers then found illicit drugs on Williams. As they were taking him to the patrol car, Williams appeared to pass out.

Officers called for assistance and the Las Vegas fire department arrived several minutes later. Medical personnel began treating Williams on the scene before transporting him to Valley Hospital. Williams was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

His family wants answers as to what happened while the cameras were off, why they were shut off in the first place and why no one helped Williams after he told them he couldn’t breathe.

Anyone that ran as far and hard then hits the ground "I can't breathe" is what anyone would say…
Cameras captured the interaction w LEOs, I'm sure the BC shows more.
I don't see negligence by the LEOs. As they realized he was no longer responsive they called Medical.

My guess is, they asphyxiated the dude in the sand the first minute, then the guy was almost done, then died…

  4. Lotuscat:3

Oof they clearly ignored the dude
This could potentially lead to a lawsuit 'negligence' or something
Also why was he running away did he had drugs or something?
And where is the actual full video?
    So many questions..
i dont ussually side with supposed criminals but there is something fishy about this

    Assholes fault for running/fleeing..
Not the cops fault cause they aren't top notch EMTs.

He should not have run. He should have not resisted.
Sounded like he was breathing to me – how else could he be saying "I can't breathe"?

That's horrible, i want to know as well why the cops, top of the line cameras, conveniently decided to malfunction during this takedown. One thing's for sure, the cops don't want the public to see all that happened.

The officer’s lack of care for the in custody by never asking for medical or putting the incapacitated in custody in an upright recovery position
To expand his lungs to breathe and monitor him until medical arrived. . And what’s with this juvenile fist bumping between the 2 cops? All for the crime of the Century Riding a bicycle without a reflector Where was his Sgt?
