Off the back of launching a plug-in hybrid version of its medium SUV, the 2021 MG HS range is again bolstered by the addition of two new, all-wheel drive variants.
Based on the top two trim levels (barring the Anfield special edition) – Excite and Essence – both are offered with introductory drive-away pricing.
The 2021 MG HS Excite X costs $37,990 drive-away, $3000 more than its front-drive counterpart.
The 2021 MG HS Essence X is priced from $42,990 drive-away, some $4000 more than the regular car.

MG did not advise when the promotional offer ends, but expect prices to last at least six months.
Once lapsed, both SUVs will return to list pricing of $35,990 and $40,990 respectively.
Both are powered by a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 168kW and 360Nm. Power is distributed to the road by a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an on-demand all-wheel-drive system.
The official combined fuel consumption figure is 9.5L/100km, 1.2 litres higher than the front-drive version, which uses 7.3L/100km.
Inside, specification mirrors that of the front-wheel drive range. The Excite X model benefits from a semi-digital instrument cluster, customisable ambient cabin lighting, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control and rain-sensing wipers.

There’a also a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with in-built satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.
On the outside, both versions receive 18-inch wheels with Michelin sports tyres, LED headlights and daytime-running lights, and LED tail-lights with sequential indicators.

The range is offered with a choice of five colours, comprising one solid and four metallic hues: New Pearl White (metallic), Black Pearl (metallic), Phantom Red (metallic), Surfing Blue (metallic) and York White (solid).
