Today’s AutoHunter Spotlight is a 1965 Ford Mustang GT fastback powered by a 289cid (A code) V8 listed on the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com.
This burgundy-colored Mustang with white stripes, being sold by its owner for the past 30 years, underwent a 3-year bare-metal rotisserie restoration that was finished in 2017. During the restoration, a fiberglass hood with a Shelby-style hood scoop was added, as were lightweight hood hinges were installed and a Shelby filler cap.
The all-black interior is fitted with vinyl bucket seats with matching door panels and carpeting. The console separating the seats houses the automatic C4 transmission shifter. The factory radio was upgraded with a vintage-looking unit from USA-1 with smartphone connectivity.
Under the hood is the 289cis V8 engine original to the GT. The seller notes the engine was rebuilt with performance upgrades including a performance camshaft, Edelbrock Performer 600cfm carburetor and Weiand Stealth high-rise intake manifold. The Mustang is also equipped with a Power Master 100-amp one-wire chrome alternator, chrome valve covers, and a Scott Drake chrome-finished air cleaner.
The odometer reads 84,000 miles, 2,000 of them added by seller since the 2017 restoration.
