My friend Pete, you should be happy you were positive $4 haha, I own my own body shop too and it's brutal! These guys with theses resto jobs think you can go Abra cadabra for 5K and do a whole car…. ain't happening! Working on the cars are fun but people absolutely suck to deal with. I sympathize with ya buddy, I'm only 28 and have a long road to go but your right let those jerk offs who say don't do the jobs try running their own shop and see how well that goes. Being in business isn't for the faint of heart thats for sure.

I would not want Pete pissed off at me for paying him $4/hr (eq.) to fix a car. *buys a t-shirt*

here i thought i was the only one that had those problems with customers. how many do you get that show up and see you with something new, like a car or truck you bought for yourself, and they have the nerve to say that they must be paying you too much? that you are getting rich off of them. also that slick sand used to be good stuff years ago, they changed the formula or whatever you call it, and the stuff is garbage now, wont stick to bare metal. never never put that polyester primer over acid etch primer, does not dry and if it does it will eventually crack and fall off

Ive never had good luck… With any of the high build polys no matter how i do it it always gets ghosting where I did my filler work… But ive never tryed epoxy sealing first then poly….
I kinda gave up on the spray poly once ive found tamco 5310….
I might have to try it out again

There are so many primers & sealers on the market we have NO idea what really holds up long term. All my cars I bought a long time ago ( 60s & 70s ) and there not going anywhere and I restored them myself. Truth is when your doing the work for yourself for YOUR classic , you DO care about how well it holds up. With that being said, I have had nothing but bad luck with anything from evercoat. Again for a customer that most likely will just flip the car it might be fine, but case in point, I am the original owner of my 1968 Chevy Camaro and it's not going anywhere and it will never be sold nor my other 5 muscle cars as what are you going to do buy a new plastic computer controlled car or truck ? No sir I am not. Many of the tricks you talk about I agree with , however there are things I do not ( you hate to shoot metal flake paint , I like it ) but regardless I try and keep a open mind on everything you do Pete as nobody likes everything in the real world. So try and remember other car restorers are watching you and we only want long term quality, not fast or CHEAP ! Hell I am still shooting all MY cars in Lacquer paint, wet sand and polish old school because all clear coats go bad quickly ( regardless of what kind) so kind of keep this in the back of your mind that a few of us old school guys are watching and we DON"T care how long a job takes or costs as the second 20 years is what counts. Granted we are not the general public, we know what we like and can keep on the road FOREVER ! Hell, my newest car is a 1970 ! and there is no way I would own anything newer then a 75 so there you go. Do I maintain them myself ? SURE there easy and I went to trade school for decades to learn the Machinist trade & body & paint as well. But nobody knows everything and I do my best to keep up on new things coming out . That's why I watch others ideas.

I find my finish line 1.8 MM nozzle primer gun don't cut it. So I resorted to a LV LP gun as well.

Just discovered your channel a few weeks ago. Ive been getting into bodywork for the last 4-5 years or so, and I must say Ive learned more from watching you and applying it in the field than anyone has taught me yet! Clear, concise, and to the point. Especially that little tidbit on the Mustang about leaving the residue in the cup when you clear your jambs! What a game changer. Keep up the good work!
