I love the ford truck of my time and before… I am 72 and it hurts to see that the truck henry built is no more. When I bought a 71 ford highboy, I was the king and the little chevys had to fight hard where I went. I made enough money logging for myself that I paid cash for my truck…. Young and dumb, I bought the half ton because it was prettier. It came with the married transfer case.. after tearing it up, and a lot poorer, I turned it into a heavy three quarter with the one ton rear end, a two ton international was that doner and with eight hole wheels all around and a 205 transfer case, the 390 built up with a good cam… super low rear gears that I knew nothing about at the time that I welded the rear end up and locked the rear end and the front axle was set for the dually rear wheels to so it was tough and quick, slow on top but fast on take off and the new transfer case took the punishment. I built my first service truck as a labor of love. It wound up with the 72 grill and free from any dents as I dollied them all out. A steel flatbed with my lincoln welder, torches and tools till the cows come home as I made real money with that truck! A lot to take in on a comment… I never got near the little truck for years and I kept that truck for years. When I moved to alaska, I just couldn't take a lot of stuff so the wife put it for sale on the local radio station and it got the phone ringing off the hook. Remember about all that was ford was cab, engine transmission, and the rest was built at home. I originally paid less than three thousand but with one ton chassis and flatbed (service truck style) a logging company bought it for the owner as he really liked it and so I had five people in my yard going " I'll pay" and the guy who bought it said " It ain't worth what I will give but will twenty five take it? … I shook his hand and the others went away cussing
