had an 06 Canyon with that atlas motor. it was hit or miss. the 2.8 3.5 and 4.2 were all the same, just cylinders cut off like the 4.3 v6 and 350 v8. 13k miles and it needed a head for the dreaded misfire these motors had. i know people with 300k and NEVER a problem. The Envoy i had was OK though…go figure.

Had one, engine was locked up… don’t know what caused it 🤷‍♂️, bought it that way and sold it as is lol… also I’ve sean many of those with certain DTCs that require a new timing chain…

We know Donestic brands have the potential to make relable solid cars but unfortunately capitalism is king

I know you're not a fan of GMs, but I've got a couple of hand-me-down chevys, a '97 K2500 suburban with the L29 454 and an '04 Impala with the series 2 L36 3800. What are you thoughts on building out these engines for max N/A power, I've read that the L29 is highly over-engineered and can be cheaply tuned out to make 800 hp, I've also heard through many sources that the series 2 3800 is also a great engine for reliability, and thus good for adding hp. Am I wrong?

I've always wanted to take my 2004 trailblazer LT to Scotty, but now that he's in TN, it won't happen.

  7. Cecilio Larios

I would buy that and drive from Arizona to pick it up.

My friend has a 2008 GMC Envoy,( same thing) w/140K. Thermostat three replacements, evap. system twice, front bearings & belt idler pulley. Now it needs a BCM & although the six cylinder. engine runs good, seems like it needs something else every time she drives it.
