This week Triumph motorcycles announced that to mitigate financial problems they are making 400 of their 2500 workers redundant. They are placing the blame on the pandemic but the route of the problem may run much deeper!

So we can see some lovers of Indian made motorcycles. So what's the problem with Thailand?
So, as the brand is as good as the last bike they built, what's Triumph like?

You talked a lot of sense, much of which I was not aware of.
You have a new subscriber Sir!

I just bought a 1200 speed twin (10/31/20) and like it compared to the Japanese sport bike I traded in. I like this motor cycle so much that I hope this works itself out. My motorbike has soul I hope the company can figure out how to survive this. I really don't care if it is made in Thailand as long as the spirit is there, but obviously I am commenting as an American whose vehicles are made in Mexico. I paid probably a premium and hope the company can work out their issues.

Tell your socialist leaning govt to make your country more business friendly and maybe manufacturing will come back, same thing is happening in the usa and has happened, manufacturing move out when the profit is not high enough.

God what a country we live in. I’ve got a Freelander 2 built in the UK by a foreign owned country and was about to buy a second hand Tiger 800, which is made overseas by a co which is British owned.

The Harley Davidson model is not the one to follow as it has led to the near bankruptcy of that company.
I have built and ridden Triumph motorcycles for over 50 years and I can tell you that a Taiwanese Triumph will not ever grace my garage. Mr. Fillingham is quite correct when he states that Royal Enfield is now filling the market for a light weight, well built motorcycle at an affordable price.

All those wonderful innovations……and we buy Royal Enfileds 😂 An Indian bike made in India and simple. Oh, and a fair price too

A sad, sad story. I hadn't realised that the bikes had been made in Thailand for such a long time. Recently sold my 2014 Daytona 675 – one of the best bikes I've owned – as I don't do enough miles to own two bikes. I will keep my KTM RC390, which is a great little bike, though I wouldn't use it in winter: it's a 2015 model: the newer ones have a better overall finish.

Makes me laugh when many here think RE cares about the non Indian market too much.
They sell 95 % of their bikes in India and just export 5 % .
The reason the Himalayan and the 650s have been introduced by RE recently is because of the competition its facing from the European and Japanese bikes in India.
RE sells around 60000 bikes per month, with only 3000 odd exported from India.

i wish i could have explained that situation as well as you have Stuart, spot on . as a speed R owner i have watched in despair as Triumph have inflated their prices saying its a premium product . They have totally lost touch with the people who were buying these bikes. i was at my local dealer last week having a service , chatting away and the salesman saying how many cancellations of Triumphs he has had nothing to do with the virus thing but all to do with the moving to Thailand thing . Another so called
british company going to the wall ?, great video as always .
