This year’s DGR ride was a strange one compared to others, with large groups and organised events being hugely restricted, this years ride was a solo one. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has been organised to promote awareness and to raise money for male mental health and prostate cancer.
Being ex armed forces, I find it tragic to see just how many ex and still serving members of the armed forces are struggling to cope with the things they have been put through in their time served. The male suicide statistics are horrific, and the large numbers can be reduced if people could only just see that help is available to them.
Suicide has very much affected my life, and it has broken my heart several times in my short time on this planet. If you know anyone who maybe struggling, please reach out to them and if nothing else, pass on some telephone numbers of where they can seek support.

The Royal British Legion: 0808 802 8080
Samaritans: 116 123
Campaign Against Living Miserably (for men): 0800 58 58 58

In the UK, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men with 1 in 8 men being diagnosed as having it in their lifetime. Just in the UK there are over 330,000 men living with the disease.
The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride is supporting Movember, a charity that is hoping to halve the number of men dying from the disease by 2030. Research is not free.
Cancer has also affected my life in it’s various forms, as I am sure it has yours, or sadly will at some point in your lifetime. It would be awesome if you could help support either this charity, or another that is close to your heart.

I believe that my fund raising page for the DGR is still able to take donations, there are also many other cancer and mental health charities you could support as an alternative. Please only donate if you can afford to do so.

Shocking numbers and as a person who had experience with male mental health issues within my family one that is close to my heart. Well done for highlighting and playing your part in bringing the issue to the forefront

Evening lad. Informative video, suicide and prostate cancer are topics close to home for me also. Damn Covid, was looking forward to dawning the suit and pipe again this year. Alas it will keep til next year.

Well said Pete. Suicide gets treated like a shameful secret, when it's actually a widespread and all too common occurance. Help is out there. Cheers – B

Nice job mate. Discussing this is vital, my Regiment lost 4 guys alone last year, all good lads with families. Well done pal. โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Great video and great info. Iโ€™m glad you took the time to put this information out, not many people understand the suicide rate of our military. We have Camp Hope in my part of Texas and they do a great job with helping veterans. I need to go get that dang 40year old check up, BUTT๐Ÿ˜† i wish it was less invasive ๐Ÿคจ.
